About
For those who are interested:
I live in the beautiful (and sometimes very wet) Pacific Northwest with my husband and our 3 kids. I am currently a stay at home striving to be a work at home mom. We are a new homeschooling family that is learning our way as we go.
I have always been intrigued with knitting. I am in awe of how a piece of string can be woven into a beautiful garment. About five years ago I decided to finally teach myself how to knit. So, I picked up a book and worked and worked at it until I finally got it right. As my skills improved so did my love of knitting.
In my free time (when I am lucky enough to get some!) you can find me either out working in my garden or curled up on my couch working on my latest knitting project. I am also an avid reader. I devour books. Lately I have been found up to my elbows in wet wool getting it ready to be dyed.

Just read your blog. Wow, do I feel lazy. I also garden and knit but have only dyed once. You make it sound so easy–I got bogged in the mordant thing. Did you know that you can use dried marigolds for a dye bath?
Funny you should bring up the dried marigolds! I have been picking and drying some as they bloom in my garden and once I have enough I’m going to try to make a dye bath from them. Thanks for “stopping by”!
Hi there, I’ve been checking out bloggers who’ve been using tansy. I found a load growing wild in the unused vegie patch. Your blog was very encouraging and so I had a go.
Thanks Gillian
Thank you Gillian! I’m glad you found this blog helpful. Tansy makes a very nice dye. It grows wild around here but I have been wanting to add it to my garden because it is also an excellent herb for attracting beneficial insects. -the Herb Knitter
